Forest Resilience

Knowledge for actions that preserve the future of our forests

Chiffres clés du PEPR (EN)

The PEPR FORESTT is an ambitious interdisciplinary researchprogramme centred on the socio-ecological transition of forest systems, in temperate and tropical areas. This programme is part of the France 2030 investment plan. Endowed with a budget of €40 million over 7 years (2024–2030), it mobilises the entire French scientific community around four challenges, addressing (1) societal issues related to the socio-ecological transition of forests, (2) the development of an agile, circular bioeconomy based on wood, (3) the adaptation and resilience of forest ecosystems, particularly with respect to mitigating the negative effects of global changes, and (4) the use of intelligent monitoring systems to promote scientific discovery and guide forest management and policy decisions.

The ambition of FORESTT:

  • Centralise, structure, and support integrated research related to the transition of forest socio-ecosystems (temperate and tropical).
  • Promote systemic approaches, interdisciplinarity, and co-construction with stakeholders.
  • Strengthen capacities for initial and continuous training.
  • Propose and test innovative strategies for the adaptive management, restoration, and conservation of forests.
